Milwaukee Community Midwives is currently the solo passion project of Tricia Morrissey, with the intention and hope to grow community based midwifery care in the city of Milwaukee. As a licensed midwife I provide family-centered comprehensive midwifery care to low-risk healthy persons desiring natural birth at home. Proudly the first Badgercare provider to serve Milwaukee’s homebirth community.

Meet Tricia:

For me, childbirth has always been about the person’s right to choose and maintain full autonomy throughout pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum. As a midwife, I can never control the course of a labor or birth but I can control the level of respect, care and support the birth person and family receives during the course of their care.  Whether this is your first pregnancy or you’ve given birth before, I strive to honor each pregnancy and birth as a truly unique experience.

I attended my first birth in 2009 as a volunteer doula, while living in Chicago and also worked as a childbirth educator during this time. During the course of my midwifery training, I apprenticed at a high-volume birth-center/home birth practice in Appleton, WI with 3 experienced licensed midwives. I graduated from a Midwifery Program through Midwest Maternal Child Institute in 2014 and also earned a B.A. from the Evergreen State College in 2007.

Outside of midwifery, I enjoying living in Milwaukee and exploring surrounding areas with my husband Matt and two children, Mae and Jack.
